School on Claremont Bank. the then Manse, until he moved on to Shrewsbury School, where he and the other boys attended Services at St Mary’s.
We have had several excellent Ministers, including Rev. William MacFarlane who inaugurated the use of the Church Porch by the Amnesty International Shrewsbury Group on a Saturday morning each month to bring to the attention of the people of Shrewsbury the work they do to bring Justice and Freedom to those who are oppressed.
Our last Minister was Rev. Simon-John Barlow, an inspirational Speaker and motivator, who regretfully left us to become freelance, and even more regretfully, died at the age of 47 in 2008. Very much missed by all in the Unitarian Movement.
Since the departure of Rev. Simon-John we have been without a Minister but have been well served by visiting Speakers, some retired Ministers, some Lay Readers or Preachers, some from other denominations, and we also have, once month,. Circle Meetings in which we select a theme and discuss it, led by one of the congregation.
